    I doubt it. The US doesn’t have any proxies in Lebanon, which would make a proxy war problematic :)

    And I can’t see US troops being sent to Lebanon any time soon. Not in a “civil war” scenario, at least. We already tried to intervene in a civil war in Lebanon once, and it didn’t end well for us, or for Lebanon.

    I don’t really have an opinion about the rest.

    Craig, in many ways March 14th is a proxy for the US. The US and Europe support March 14th and support the Harriri tribunal before the UN. This is support. If the Aounists and Hezbollah, line up against March 14, and the Phallangists I can tell you that the US will support the later; Iran and Syria the former. That, I believe, is the definition of a proxy war, even if that isn’t necessary the cause, it will become one.
