"Egypt is not doing enough to stop the Iranian danger that penetrates through its borders, from Sinai and into Gaza. If Egypt wants to be a loyal ally and to participate in stopping the Iranian threat, it must stop weapons smuggling. Because those arms are then used against Egypt itself,"
This isn’t even funny anymore. Am I supposed to believe that Egypt is an agent of Iran now. Egypt, comprare atripla sconto. The entirely Sunni country that is so deathly afraid of Iran that they are developing their own U.S. backed nuclear program just in case they have to defend themselves from Iran. The country that openly criticizes Hezbollah simply because they fear a Shi'a takeover of Lebanon. Seriously these guys aren’t even trying anymore, I thought that kind of propaganda had to be at least slightly feasible.

Excuse me? Who the hell is the Egyptian government to tell an Egyptian Christian that he/she cannot make pilgramage to Jeurasalem?!
Lol.
Just anotother slap in the face from the government at the Copts.
I wonder what the reaction would be if Pope Shenouda told Egyptian muslims they were forbidden from making their pilgramage to Mecca. I’m sure Egyptian muslims would take that pretty well, right?
Oh well, although this is humiliating and insulting it isn’t actually that bad, there has been worse.
March 9th, 2007 at 10:01 amI thought Egyptian Christians were forbidden from going to Jerusalem anyway?
March 10th, 2007 at 10:44 amEgypeter, I wouldn’t really cause this a slap in the face against copts. I’m sure that if muslims wanted to make a pilgrimage there they also would be banned. This is a political spat, not anything religious. And the comparison of Pope Shenouda and muslims vs. the Government and copts is not really an appropriate example in this instance. IMHO anyway.
Actually, I thought copts couldn’t travel to Israel anyways, like Egy Dude mentioned. Didn’t Pope Shenouda issue a statement saying we would be excommunicated from the church if we went? Maybe I’m mistaken. But I could have sworn he said something along these lines. Somebody correct me if I’m wrong

March 10th, 2007 at 4:08 pmActually Tina I think there was some sort of declaration by Pope Shenouda many years ago but is has since been rescinded…my family went on vacation there before the current mess.
And that besides the point anyways. An edict from the Pope to the Copts is different from the government forbidding Christians from pilgrimage. And if it’s only Christians that are forbidden then I would disagree with you and say it IS religious and not just political. And I think my example is perfectly accurate.
It’s all a moot point if it applys to everyone but from the article it seems to only apply to Christians. So then yes, it is another slap in the face by the Egyptian government against Christians - again.
March 10th, 2007 at 8:35 pmwho cares that it’s another slap in the face against Christians, they aren’t doing anything about it, and taking the hits. Everyone that leaves their mother country never turns back to help, it’s pretty shelfish
